Workshop Transcultural and Transhistorical Baroque

The final workshop of the Project “Global Baroque: Transcultural and Transhistorical Approaches to Latin America, funded by the Getty Foundation’s initiative “Connecting Art Histories” is a collaboration of the Universidade Federal de São Paulo, University of Zurich and the Universidad Nacional de Tres de Febrero. It intends to discuss specific case studies in different “contact zones” in the southern part of South America. It will be important not to understand the research results as isolated debates on style, iconography, material, circulations, or simple transfer, but to analyze these transcultural phenomena as complex negotiations of cultural systems.
